the cosmetice surgery after the wreck is about to beging

well here is the new tail lgiht

review of tear drop led unit
it is a nice unit though i am a bit disapointed the reason i decided to order this unit from speedway motors was that in the discription of the unit it advertised a rapid pulse brake flasher built in
and after i order it go to test it i notice that the brake flasher wasnt working now on the web site it says it can be disabled so i figureed i got one that was shiped disabled so i emailed speedway and today i find out that the web page was wrong it doesnt have the braked flasher built into it and they dont have a tear drop that does
speedway did offer to let me return it for a full refund but it by the time i return it and find another unit that has the flasher unit it could be months before i get one so ill just keep this one for now and see if i can find one if not ill add some brake flasher lights

now as soon as my new welder gets here i can start cutting up the rearend to weld in the frenching bucket and put the new tailight on

well olive hit the lift today as i got done with work early

this is what i found when i took the rear tire off
Image
looks like its time for a new one so i swapped the spare onto the rear rim and the s**t tire onto the spare rim

i had to take the rack and that horrid huge square monstrosity they call a tail light off
Image

then i decided that the bucket for the tail lamp was deeper than i thought it need be so i hacked out a bit over an inch and welded the end back on
Image

now its time to cut a big a*s hole into olive
Image

and here is the test fit of the frenching bucket with the lamp in it
Image
i still have to weld the bucket in then trim off the extra and get some primer on it all

this is the used pipes am getting
Image
its the simonini 125/150 pipe its not a true expansion pipe but its homginized just like the lv zx that the guys run on the zuma 50s (just wait till you see what im going to do to the used zx i got for the z)
acording to the dyno charts i have seen is it peaks out faster then the sito plus (another stock style exhasut that is a common stella mod) but it drops off a bit faster but that chart was with a stock carb and i already have the bigger carb and for the price im paying for this pipe its well worth the experiment
plus i think right hand pipes look sharp on stellas

i found out why i got such a good deal on the pipe the mounting bracket was welded on wrong so i had to make a few adjustments to make it work

well olive went out for a test run today

just seconds after taking her off the lift she had to go back up

one of the angles on the center stand was hitting the simonini pipe
so out came the grinder and off came the obstruction

im not worried about taking it out as the stock didnt have the cross braces so i doubt it is needed

wow

she runs like a top
i can now hit 50 indicated in 3rd and easily hit 60 indicated in 4th
i didnt get a good run as i was just going up and down my road and had to let off before i found the sand and the snow and ice on the road
a recap of the mods so far
vsx airfilter
24/24 carb
sominini pipe

well olive is just a tad on the lean side still good but just leaner then i would like so im looking for some jets i have an order sitting at the shop for when they order
i decdied to install a cht in the mean time to keep an eye on her temp as being on the lean side she might run a bit warm on long wot runs
Image
Image

the guage bucket is a bit of exhasut tubing and the mounting bracket is a chunk of flat iron that runs to the mirror mounts it is in primer right now and i will spray it satin black till i get the rest of the body work done well that is if i decide to repaint it

till i get every thing done i will be going with a rat bike look

well olive is under going some more cosmetic surgery it should be fairly complete tomorrow
i have removed and filled the stock turn signals i hava also welded in a panel to fill the body line on the cowels
the stock turn signals are being replaced with 4(2 on each cowel) 1 inch dia red lights as of right now
the welds have been dressed metal filler has been done the first skim coat of bondo has been sanded and the second is drying
i have drilled the first 2 holes in the cowels for the new turn signals/tail lights(the sencond set hasnt arived)
so in the back when done i will have a total of 5 lights
all 5 will be running lights
the tear drop is the brake
and 2 turn signal lights on each side
if the turn signals arent enough i might add a strip of leds wired into the turn signals

hopefully i can get enough done to snap a pic tomorrow
