I'd like to buy a Yamaha Vino

does anyone know a good source for used Yamaha Vino's near Houston, TX? I'd like to buy one. Also - is it alright if I lay it on it's side and put it in the back of my Toyota Highlander to take it home?

The best place to start would probably be your local classified ads, craigslist, and even check with some yamaha dealers in your area. Most dealers will take trade-ins and if they sell the yamaha scooters, theres a good chance they've got some used ones. There are also several on eBay if you dont mind traveling a little to pick it up (or arrange for shipping).

Whenever I went to pick up my first scoot, it was located about 60 miles away. I didnt really want to have to rent a Uhaul to go get it and I figured that it should fit in the back of an expedition with no problem. I bought a metal ramp, I think usually used for lawnmowers, took the seats out, and headed down. When we got there, and started wheeling the scooter up the ramp, I though "oh no, it aint gonna fit". Well, it DID fit, but it was tricky and you're gonna need at least another guy with you. When it starts to roll up into the back, you'll have to tilt it over pretty far, and that extra guy will be the one that needs to hold it up just a little (still tipped) while the other guy pushes it forward. Getting it back out is a little tricky too. I'm not sure how large the back of a highlander is in comparison to an Expedition, but if it is much smaller, you'll probably want to just rent a U-haul. I was a little worried about fuel leaking out into the truck since it was laid over, but none did. It might not be a bad idea to syphon the fuel out, or just ride it around till its nearly empty. Good luck! Its a fun purchase and you'll probably start loking for excuses to ride it everywhere :D You'll have to post up pics when you get one!

Don't know if you are looking for a 50cc Vino or a 125cc, but there is a 125 near you for 2K.

You could probably talk them down a bit from that.
And it says THEY'LL deliver within 100 miles.

well what vino are you looking for an older 2 stroke 50 (has more power same engine as the zuma) the newer 4 stroke 50( a bit of a dog and expensive to make faster) or the 125

i would look at craigs list ebay and start to comb the dealers

maybe old guy has some insights on used vinos in tx i personal would not lay a scoot down to transport it (i did this for the tomos i picked up for restoration but i drained all the fluids first)
i personally would find a route and ride it home or beg and borrow a truck or trailer

Welcome to scootforum, sbacon  . Looks like you have been pointed to some good sites to find what you need  . We'd have to concur with those who advise against laying a scoot perfectly flat unless all the fluids were first removed; not only to prevent a possible mess but to prevent any unwanted fluids from leaking into unwanted areas, like gas into the crank case, etc. If you must haul it in your SUV maybe you could provide a soft cushion of some sort to prop it into a less than horizontal position after loading.
