No spark on my 1965 Vespa 125

Hello, I am trying to resolve an issue with my Vespa 125, vin# VNB6T. I used to ride it all the time until my kids arrived. Now that they are older, I went to use the scooter again, but it will not start.
I have gas, compression, no spark. I removed the flywheel and checked the connections, all where clean and tight. I do get power as the horn works and head lamp turns on when I crank the kick start.
I have a brand new spark plug, but can't get a spark.

Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

have you checked your points yet make sure they are clean and opening and closing

have you double checked that the kill switch if working properly and not coroded or stuck in the off

check the coil too

they are old and simple
