Water Repellent

Postby OldGuy on Sun Jan 03, 2010 12:36 pm

I have a pair of gloves that I really like. The only problem is that they weren't water repellent. As a matter of fact they soaked up water like a sponge. I tried several different silicone based products with no success. Than I ran across this stuff at WalMart in the shoe department.

It's Camp Dry Performance Fabric Protector by KIWI. According to the can it's a polymer. It works great. Two warnings:

1. Make sure you get the Camp Dry Fabric Protector, not the Camp Dry Heavy Duty Water Repellent.
2. DO NOT USE IT INDOORS!! The fumes are intense.

It says you can even use it on suede and Gore-Tex.

Good info, especially for those who have to ride in the rain a lot. Does it require re -applications or is it a one time thing? We have heard favorable remarks about Camp Dry when used on other items.

I have no idea how long it will last, but since it's the only thing I've found that works I don't care. :dunno:
